When you are 21 and out on the town, you shouldn’t look like you raided the vault at Harry Winston. But that doesn’t mean you are limited to rubber bracelets and skull rings either. Rumer Willis, showing her style pedigree, tried to combine glamor with whimsey at her 21st birthday party at the Venetian’s Tao nightclub in Las Vegas last week. Starting with a short sequined dress, very Vegas, she added sophisticated rose-cut diamond bangles by Amrapali and a pointer-finger ring. That’s a lot of diamonds, for sure, but Rumer undercut the seriousness of the jewels with a black-and-white manicure. Pretty sure we would not recommend this for anyone over the drinking age but it really shows that it’s not what you wear but how you wear it that is the true benchmark of individual style. What’s the verdict? Young and fun? Or truly tacky?
